Police Medal: Pune Police: पुणे पुलिस के १३ पुलिसवालों को राष्ट्रपति पुलिस पदक मिला. 13 police officials from pune police awarded president police medals.

PUNE: Special inspector general of police, state criminal investigation department, D Kanakaratnam is among the 13 police officials in the city, who have been selected for the President's police medal for distinguished service. The other 12 police personnel from Pune, who have been selected for the President's police medal for meritorious service, are superintendent of police (wireless) Ishwar Kamble; deputy commissioner of police (headquarters) Jayant Naiknaware; superintendent of police (motor transport) Kishor Joshi; assistant commissioners Prakash Gharge (Khadki division) and Kalidas Suryavanshi (CID); inspectors Ram Pathare (Swargate police station) and Mahendra Rokade (government railway police); sub-inspector Rahim Karim Shaikh (wireless); constables Hiraman Bagul (Kothrud police station); Sidharth Lokhande (crime branch), and Mahadev Kadam and Deepak Gaherwar (SRPF group-2). Ashok Kumar Rai, divisional security commissioner of the Railway Protection Force, has also been selected for the police medal for his meritorious service of 23 years. Kanakaratnam, an IPS officer from the 1987 batch, had received the President's police medal for meritorious service in 2006 also. He was also honoured with special services medal by the state government and the Union government. He served in many highly sensitive areas of the state. He had effectively controlled underworld activities, when he was serving as deputy commissioner of police in Thane. Ishwar Kamble had played an important role during the 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai, which had helped the police officials receive uninterrupted live updates from the scene of crime. Due to good communication the terrorist Ajmal Kasab was caught alive. Kishor Joshi joined the motor transport department as sub-inspector in 1983. He was promoted as superintendent in 2003. He has been awarded the director general police insignia for his service in the state police department. Jayant Naiknaware joined the police force in 1992. He was promoted as the DCP in 2004. He also worked as DCP in the state excise department and as assistant director of Intelligence bureau. Prakash Gharge joined the police force in 1981 and was promoted as the ACP in 2011. He has received 325 rewards during his career in the police force. Kalidas Suryavanshi joined the police force in 1983 and became the ACP in 2007. He has been awarded the director general of police insignia in 2010. He has received 162 rewards during his career. Ram Pathare has received 259 rewards during his 27 years of service. He has served in Nashik, Satara, Mumbai and in the CID. Mahendra Rokade has received 265 rewards during his 28 years of service. While serving as inspector of the GRP in Pune, Rokade has solved train dacoity cases and also seized narcotic substances. Rahim Karim Shaikh has joined the police force in 1979. He has been awarded the director general police insignia in 1995. Hiraman Bagul served the police force for 35 years and has received 231 rewards. Sidharth Lokhande has received 190 rewards during his 33 years of service. He has also been awarded the director general of police insignia in 2011. Mahadev Kadam has joined the state reserve police force (SRPF) in 1978 and served in Gadchiroli, Assam, Gujrath and Uttar Pradesh. He has received 70 awards including the director general of police insignia. Deepak Gaherwar has joined the SRPF in 1980 and has received 122 rewards and the director general of police insignia.
