Singh helped his party to move out safely from the ambush zone. Further upon seeing the rear troops still trapped in ambush, he rushed to rescue them. Rakesh Kumar Chaurasia, assistant commandant, sub inspector Sushil Kumar Verma, head constable Lalit Kumar, constable Uday Kumar Yadav and constable Manohar Lal Chandra also were also killed in this incident. The volume of the gallantry medal is a reflection of the sacrifices being made by CRPF personnel in different areas of conflict, viz.
