Orissa Police: Bhubneshwar Police: भुवनेश्वर के बाहर लगा तमानडो पुलिस स्टेशन होगा हाई-फाई, उड़िसा का सबसे शानदार और चकाचक..

BHUBANESWAR: The proposed Tamando police station is all set to go on stream early next month, leading to expectations of better crime control in the fast-growing suburb in Bhubaneswar. The police station stands out owing to a host of amenities for police, public and the accused on its premises. The police station boasts of separate cubicles for the accused, close circuit television cameras (CCTV), conference hall, police barrack and other facilities usually not found at other police stations. Situated on NH-5 (from Khandagiri towards Khurda), the police station is being constructed by Odisha State Police Housing and Welfare Corporation Limited at an estimated cost of Rs 1.5 crore.
The much-vaunted three-storey police station is likely to be inaugurated in the first week of April, sources said. "Tamando police station will be the biggest police station building in Odisha. Unlike crammed lockups, the accused will be kept in spacious and modern cubicles fitted with CCTVs. There will be toilet facility at each cubicle so that the accused need not be taken out of the lockups," said twin city commissioner of police B K Sharma. "There will be an exclusive cell where accused will be interrogated," he added. "It will be an ultra-modern police station as well as a training centre for newly recruited cops. The police station was necessary in view of the fast growth in the area," Sharma said. Currently, the Tamando area, consisting of six mouzas, falls under the jurisdiction of the Khandagiri police. Once the Tamando police station starts functioning, at least 15 villages (7-8 km radius) would be transferred from Khandagiri police limit to the former. Tamando residents are hopeful the proposed police station will help prevent crimes and boost security. "Thefts, burglary and highway robbery are rife in the area. We were dependent on Khandagiri police station all this while, which was very far from our place. We hope Tamando police station will bring us some relief," said local sarpanch Sukanti Behera.
Notably, Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, had prepared a micro-level planning to improve public utility facilities and quality of life in Tamando region. The zonal development plan has been conceived and prepared within the framework of comprehensive development plan (CDP) of Bhubaneswar. Tamando is among the 14 zones of Bhubaneswar plan area, identified for overall development in line with the CDP. The area has been earmarked for extensive development zones, relating to housing projects and construction of new roads for easy accessibility.
